Build Your Own TARDIS

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle

There is a reason Stephen Covey named his book The Seven HABITS of Highly Effective People.

There is a reason Twyla Tharp titled her book The Creative HABIT.

Both the businessman and artist know that achievement in your chosen profession depends on consistent action, on patterns of behavior repeated over time.

If you are looking for some “get of jail free card” that allows you to bypass routine and still succeed, you won’t find one.

Structure can be constricting or liberating – it just depends on what sort of structure you create for yourself. You can wedge yourself into a crate or you can build something like Dr. Who’s TARDIS – which appears to be a claustrophobic phone booth from the outside, but is much bigger on the inside and allows him to travel to any where or when he likes.

If you resist or reject the utility of habit, consistency, pattern, repetition, and routine in your business – it’s time to change your perspective.

Begin to shift your thinking and learn to build structures that are liberating. Experiment until you come up with something that is bigger on the inside than it appears to be from the outside and will take you anywhere you want to go.
