Brushes with Greatness

Yesterday a friend and I were talking about allowing ourselves to hang out with the people we admire – you know, those people we think of as “better” than us (professionally, not talking about our worth as human beings here) – and showing up as though we have something to bring to the table (which we do) even though we may not always feel like we’re quite good enough yet to have earned a seat.

That night I had a dream that I was hanging out with Oprah. As in: invited to her small humble Chicago apartment (that part was funny because there is no way she lives like that) for some intimate meeting of people involved in her television show. I had been taken into the inner circle. There was even hugging at the end…

I love how the subconscious likes to try things on for size, to experiment, to ask what if? Apparently it sees few limits to who I can spend time with or who I might impress – which is reassuring even if the message was delivered in the form of a totally goofy dream.

Who do you admire at a distance?  Are there ways to interact with those people that would build real two-way relationships?  How much would that help you and your business?
